The Shepherd Centre

Helping deaf children achieve the future they deserve

The Shepherd Centre helps give deaf and hearing-impaired children in NSW and the ACT the opportunity to learn and practice spoken language, so they can reach their full potential. To reflect this commitment, the Centre needed a new website that would provide advice and comfort to parents, information and guidance to health professionals, and inspiration for people looking to support its work.

The solution

We worked collaboratively with a research agency that had produced a detailed wireframe based on ‘user journeys’ for the four key audiences – parents, donors, healthcare professionals and government.

We then created a look-and-feel for the website, produced new content and built a versatile, mobile-responsive site that included case studies, graphics, integrated videos, animation and microsites. A hero video introduces Max, one of the centre’s graduates, who takes viewers on a tour of the Shepherd Centre to meet the dedicated staff and children.

The result

The Shepherd Centre launched the new website in March 2016, and has since seen an increase in web donations and enrolments of children in its early-intervention program, as well as an increase in the number of school-aged children it supports.
